This year’s spiritual leaders at Congregation Ahavath Achim (Bristol Jewish Center) are Lauren Brody-Hyett and Sarah Beth Newmark, both 4th-year student rabbis at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Wyncote, PA.

Sarah has been an English professor and an educational administrator. Before enrolling at RRC, she was president of a 930-family congregation in Washington State. Sarah and her husband, an ENT physician at Geisinger Medical Center, have two college-age children.

Lauren has special interests in animal-assisted and aboriginal art, and has worked with temple youth groups (including Hillel at UPenn) and senior citizens, as well as a religious school educator. She grew up in State College and now resides in Wayne, PA with her husband, a 4th-grade teacher. They are expecting their first child in February, 2008.

We welcome these two educated, dedicated people, and their families, to the BJC family for 2007-2008. May we all learn much from, and share many joys with, each other during the coming year!
